Choosing the best registry cleaner for your computer is an important process and should never be the subject of downloading the first result that comes up in Google for "best registry cleaner". A little research is required and more important than that, you should be aware of the specific needs of your computer.

Competition for our consumer attention is incredibly high from the developers who produce these registry cleaners. This works in two ways, one good and one bad. The bad news is that we have to deal with a lot of increasingly whiny sales talk and bold exaggerations. The good news is that these developers are being constantly pushed to out-do each other. We stand to reap the benefits in some truly excellent registry cleaner softwares that are more than capable of fixing our PCs and returning them to their once high quality working order.

The best registry cleaner will be able to fix the highest percentage of errors that it finds while offering the usual security and reliability that you would expect of a commercial solution.

If you download several registry cleaners and run the scan functionality on each, you'll notice that each app is likely to return a different number of errors. We can safely say that it's highly unlikely any of them are dead on in their error counts. Windows is so sophisticated and so hard to scan for errors that some are always likely to slip under the radar. Rest assured however that if there is a serious vulnerability in the registry, a good registry cleaning software will find it and report it back to you. We want to look for the registry cleaner that reports the most errors while still being able to fix a high percentage of them.

Another thing to consider is the source of your errors. Have you been noticing a prolific error output from one particular application? If you have, it's a smart idea to check the scanned list of errors for references to that application. Do you see any? If you don't, it's possible that the cleaner has failed to find them. In this case, it might not be the best registry cleaner for your needs after all. Don't take that as a signal that the cleaner is useless though.

It's natural that some development teams have geared their registry cleaner more towards the hardware settings, while others have spent more time refining the software scanner. You'll soon discover which registry cleaner is better accustomed to finding the problems on your computer. In some cases, we've known of users installing two registry cleaners to make sure that no error slips under the radar. This is entirely personal choice.

The best registry cleaners will also come with the ability to control your start up boot process. This is directly tied to the task manager. Have you noticed Windows taking so much longer to load? It's probably because your start up process has become convoluted with too many meaningless applications. The very best registry cleaners will allow you to control what programs to start with at the click of a mouse.
