If you open up Google and run a search looking for the best fix software reviews, you’ll be left to fight your way through quite a significant number of results. About three and a half million at the time of writing! So how can we tell which PC fixing software is to be trusted, and which is to be left to rot in the darkest corners of the Internet?
As with any review, you should look for how reputable the site in question actually is. Does the review suggest that the person actually knows what he’s talking about, and has actually tried the product? Be careful not to fall for people trying to sell you their product by posting a ghost review singing its praises. It’s deceptive, but it happens.
You should also check with the established software review panels. Has the product ranked well with sites like Download.com and Softpedia? These are both highly reputable sites that only endorse the best spyware free products on the market. If they give their endorsement, you can be safe in the knowledge that you’re not downloading a shady untested tool that could quite possibly do more harm than good.
For example, Clean My Registry – a utility for getting rid of registry corruptions on Microsoft Windows – received a great boost when it was voted on to the 101 Fantastic freebies list by PC World in May 2007. Before it had the endorsement of such a prominent brand, the registry cleaning software was languishing as so many tools do. It was a brilliant product from the outset, but unfortunately these products are hard to find in a market that is saturated by reviews that you’d be a dare devil to place your faith in.
Registry Smart is another free fixing tool that has received a shower of praise from the main industry review houses. It scored well in a mainstream UK newspaper and as you can imagine, any product that appeals to such a huge market – and let’s face it, most of us have access to a home computer these days – is going to receive a great boost when it gets backing by such a trusted source.
By branching out and looking further a field online, we can tell that Driver Detective is very much a hot product to have at the moment. The driver fixing software is quick to download and easy to install. But more importantly from the potential consumer’s point of view, it comes with all singing praises from several key review sites.
A Softpedia pick with 5 out of 5 stars. Awarded another 5 stars by Geek Files. And last but not least, it managed to scoop 5 cows on tucows. For anybody who’s used tucows before, you’ll be aware that five cows is as good as it gets! In terms of PC fix reviews you can trust, Drier Detective is very much the darling of these established brands.
When you’re reading through PC fix software reviews, be sure that your source is trusted and knowledgeable on the subject. And where possible, try to get a second opinion.
