A driver is a kind of program which enables the operating system of the computer to communicate with the computer hardware. There are multitudes of drives, which are used across all kinds of operating systems to varying degrees. While using the drivers, we come across different kinds of problems regarding the proper operation of the drivers, and sometimes the drivers work strangely. There are some processes, which you must follow to update your drivers.

Before finding the right driver, you have to figure out the model and make of the device which you are updating. Actually, it is not so hard in its process. You can also find the information in the manual of the device. If the device is attached inside the computer, for example a video card or an internal modem, you can easily find out about it through using the built-in system programs on Windows, which are found in the control panel - accessible from the Start menu. Click the start button, then control panel, system, and then click the device manager.
The device manager is the hub of driver management and it's strongly recommended that you get to grips with this area of Windows.
After that, a list of devices and their different names will appear under different headings on the left side. Once you have the name of the device, you will be able find the correct driver on the website of the manufacturers. When you click on the file, which contains the driver package, the website browser will then prompt you to run or download the file.
Now, select ‘Download’, and after this specify a folder on your computer to save it. The best thing will be to click the desktop symbol on the right top of the download box. In Windows 95 or 98, it appears as a tiny pencil and a blotter. In Windows ME, you should click the icon on the left column of the dialog box in the computer. Repeat this process until the desktop shows you the selected folder. In Windows Vista, you must click the desktop folder on the left side of the window in the folder list. Therefore, this will finally save the drive package in your desktop. After the download of the driver is completed, close the web browser, and then create a folder on your desktop. Enter a name for the folder, and then click to it.
Now you can open the driver files by clicking twice on it. Double click the downloaded file. The file will expand and it will encompass all the items inside the file, and then list them in the folder of the driver files. Then comes the process where you will update the real driver. Open the control panel and after clicking the icon for System twice, choose the tab of the device manager. Then find the device for which you want to update the driver. Finally, click the button for‘Update Driver’. A dialog box will open, choose the INF file in the folder you downloaded earlier, and click OK.
